In order to promote public awareness of alien plant and animal species common in Latvia, the association “Dabaskoncertzāle” in cooperation with the artist Kristaps Priede developed ten infographics for recognizing alien species. This activity is implemented in the framework of the international project “Integrated management and system of measures to reduce negative impact of invasive alien species in protected areas of crossborder region” (project number: ENI-LLB‑1–077).
The infographics have been developed on the following species:
- Ponto-Caspian amphipod crustacean (Pontogammarus robustoides);
- Spinycheek crayfish (Faxonius limosus);
- Zebra mussel (Dreissena polymorpha);
- Chinese sleeper (Perccottus glenii);
- the slug Krynickillus melanocephalus);
- wild cucumber (Echinocystis lobate);
- black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia);
- false spiraea (Sorbaria sorbifolia);
- large-leaved lupine (Lupinus polyphyllos);
- low juneberry (Amelanchier spicata).
The Association ” Dabaskoncertzāle ” invites environmental educators, schools, tourism information centers, landowners and managers, as well as other interested parties to use the infographics developed.

It is planned that, with the resumption of the “Dabaskoncertzāle” outdoor performances, the developed materials will also be used in the organization of scientific workshops.
Overall, the Partners involved in the international project ” Integrated management and system of measures to reduce negative impact of invasive alien species in protected areas of crossborder region ” paid special attention to 13 invasive plant species and 12 animal species in the cross-border region (the list of species is available on the Dabaskoncertzāle website).
